It is time to update the district strategic plan. Our current strategic plan is expiring this year. Using input from parents, teachers, students, and the community during the Superintendent search, the Board used the information to help create its goals for the future.
Board Goals:
Goal 1: Work to attract and retain a highly qualified staff and increase staff diversity.
Goal 2: Provide equitable opportunities and resources to lessen the achievement gap.
Goal 3: Develop and implement a district communication plan.
Goal 4: Foster cooperative relationships with school and community groups and organizations.
Goal 5: Maintain long-term financial stability to meet priorities.
Goal 6: Develop and maintain building and infrastructure short and long-range plans.
Utilizing a backward design planning process, we want to focus on our end result to help drive our planning process. Our end result is our graduating students. Therefore, our first step will be to design the Portrait of a Graduate. A Portrait of a Graduate represents a school district's vision for the skills, character traits, and/or social-emotional competencies that students need to succeed in college, career, and life. Once we identify what we want for our students, we will develop the Portrait of an Educator. The Portrait of an Educator represents the skills and attributes that we want all adults in our district to possess to ensure that our students are successful. After developing the Portrait of the Graduate and the Portrait of the Educator, we will use these tools to develop the strategies for each of the Board’s goals.
We have started gathering information from students and staff members, but would like your input as well. You can help in three ways. You can participate in one of two town hall meetings in January to provide input on the Portrait of a Graduate and Portrait of an Educator. You can also participate in Thought Exchanges to provide input. Additionally, you can serve as a member of the district team. The district team will be comprised of 45 members, representing students, teachers, staff, parents, community members, administration and business owners.
