The Ball-Chatham Board of Education met for its regularly scheduled meeting at the District Office in Chatham, IL on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023
The following is a summation of the items discussed and those that were approved, as well as links to those items in the Board packet.
4. TRUTH AND TAXATION
-The board heard a tax levy hearing and adopted the 2023 tax levy as presented.
5. COMMUNICATIONS
-Supt. Dr. Becca Lamon recognized Glenwood High School students who have been named as 2024 Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.
Board Secretary Andrea Rediger recognized the following students for being CACC Student of the Month for October and November:
October: Natalia Shepherd Brust - Cosmetology, O'Sheay Tyson - Cosmetology, Taryn Waterman - Cosmetology II, Carly Baker - Early Childhood, Connor Wood - Electrical Engineering, Rhyana Perkins - Emergency Medical Technician, Dylan Smith - HVAC/Electrical II, Kiersten Howie - Law Enforcement II, Jahmariae Smith - Nursing Assistant, Maya Koeppe - Nursing Assistant, and Jayden Gerberding - Welding I
November: Ryan Killen - Coop/Work Based Learning, Taryn Waterman - Cosmetology, Cade Thoron - HVAC/Electrical, James Johnson - HVAC/Electrical, Haley Schuerman - Law Enforcement, Brianna Barnes - Law Enforcement, Ava Albertini - Medical Assistant, and Landon Boehler - Welding I
Recognition: 5.3 Coach Recognition
Dr. Lamon announced that Ryan Staley received a Distinguished Middle School Coach Award from The Illinois Track and Cross Country Association.
SUPERINTENDENT UPDATE
Dr. Lamon presented her Superintendent Update highlighting accomplished goals, future plans, and visibility in the district.

TITLE IX
Dr. Lamon shared that the district reached out the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights on December 6, 2023 for a status update on our November 30, 2022 Title IX corrective plan. The OCR responded that they are still reviewing the information to determine what, if any, additional information will need to be provided.

6. CONSENT ITEMS & 7. PERSONNEL CONSENT ITEMS
The board adopted all consent and personnel consent items as listed in the board packet.
8. NEW BUSINESS
The board approved changes to GHS GMS and GIS handbooks. More details are available in the board packet.
Dr. Lamon presented proposed 24/25 projects, which were approved by the board and are available in the board packet.
The board voted to approve labeling zones near our schools hazardous walk zones so our transportation department will fit certain ISBE requirements to transport students who live very close to school (so they don't have to walk).
Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Farnsworth presented the amended 2024/25 school calendar to include a Half-Day School Improvement Day on the last attendance day. She also brought the 2025/26 school calendar to the board for approval. The Board approved these items.

CITIZEN COMMENTS
Daniel Blunk, GIS Parent, shared that he is concerned about the background checks that are required of visitors to the buildings.
Pat Phipps wished everyone a happy holiday season.
Tiffani Saunders recognized Morgan Scheffers and wished her well after resigning.
