Mr. Steve Rembusch, Principal
Mr. Steve Rembusch has been named Principal at Chatham Elementary School. From 2019 to 2022, he served as an Assistant Principal at Glenwood Middle School. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Principal at Chatham Elementary School beginning in 2013. He started his teaching career in Eagar, Arizona where he taught fifth grade. From there he came home to Chatham to teach fourth grade and coach football. He has been employed by the District for 15 years.
Mr. Rembusch graduated from Glenwood High School in 1998. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education through Eastern Illinois University, and earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership through The American College of Education.
His wife, Holly, is the Assistant Principal at Ball Elementary School. Together they have two daughters, Kaley and Kinsley. In his free time he enjoys fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. “I have been a student, a teacher, a coach, an administrator, and a parent in the Ball Chatham School District. I am extremely proud to be a Titan and I look forward to my new position as Principal at Chatham Elementary School” he says.
Mrs. DeAnna Johnson, Assistant Principal
Mrs. DeAnna Johnson was named Assistant Principal at Chatham Elementary School at the Board of Education’s April 27th meeting.
Mrs. Johnson’s career began with Peoria Public Schools, where she taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. She has also served as an Academic Interventionist, and most recently as a School Improvement Coach with Springfield Public Schools.
DeAnna graduated high school from Richwoods High School in Peoria, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Western Governors University in 2013. She returned to Western Governors University to obtain her Masters in Educational Leadership, which was conferred in 2021.
About her profession, she says she loves building relationships and connecting with students, staff, and the community. “It is through these relationships that we are able to support learning for the whole child and set our students up for success,” she says. “The best part of this profession is witnessing the growth that we see in our students every year.”
She also believes that there is a strong need for educators to be strategic in finding ways to support learning loss/gaps and social-emotional needs that have come to the forefront in recent years. “This challenge calls for us to think outside the box and is where relationship building has a strong impact.”
DeAnna is a Peoria Foundation Grant recipient, and also received an Excellence Award in Strategic Planning for Educational Leaders from Western Governors University.
She and her husband, Steve, have two children - Kelsi (24) and Nick (14). They also have a dog named Captain Rogers.
On her own time, she is an avid reader and a DIY enthusiast. When not reading or creating, she enjoys spending time with family, camping, traveling, and watching Chicago Bears football!
Mrs. Brittany Sitko, Special Education Coordinator
Mrs. Brittany Sitko has taught fifth grade students for 15 years: first in Belleville, Illinois (2003-2006); and then at Glenwood Intermediate School (2006-2018).
Brittany, an SHG graduate, went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from SIU-E, and her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from UIS where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
She says what she enjoys most in her profession is being an advocate for her students and helping each one to achieve his or her greatest potential.
Brittany is married to Tyler, who is a firefighter for the Springfield Fire Dept. They have two daughters: Payton, age 10; and Madelyn, age 8. On her own time, she likes reading, exercising, and cheering for the Illini and the Cubs. She also loves to watch her girls do the activities they enjoy - softball, cheer, gymnastics, and basketball.
